Mercy Mmesoma Obi Nnadi ( née Obi ; 19 April 1998 – 21 April 2021), popularly known as Ada Jesus was a Nigerian actress and comedienne.

Early life and education

Ada Jesus is from Orlu, Imo, Nigeria. She graduated from Imo State University .

Career

Ada Jesus started modelling and attending auditions for movies and TV serials after she graduated from the university. She also worked as a housekeeper for a retired pilot, before starting her career as a stand-up comedienne where she performed at events and shows. Ada Jesus became popular when she started posting comedy skits in Igbo language on Instagram and

Facebook in 2018.

Sickness and death

In December 2020, Ada Jesus was diagnosed with kidney disease which left her paralysed and confined to a wheel chair, causing her body to swell, especially her face and tummy. She was later admitted to New Hope Hospital, Onitsha ,

Anambra State. In April 2021, when her health deteriorated further, she went to ask for forgiveness from pastor Odumeje , the founder of Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, actress Rita Edochie and an Asaba based native doctor , Chi Marine Temple. Ada Jesus accused pastor Odumeje of conniving with Rita Edochie to stage fake miracles and deceive people in his church. She also claimed she arranged people for fake miracles in the church and helped Rita Edochie get men to sleep with her. She went further and attacked Chi Marine Temple whom she mocked and called a fake native doctor.

Chi Marine Temple forgave her when she visited him, but Odumeje and Rita Edochie refused to forgive her and instead cursed her and said her generations will suffer for the insults and lies against him. Odumeje told her to provide evidence to back her claims, adding that nobody speaks against him and goes scot-free, while Rita Edochie said she will not recover from the ailment. On 11 April 2021, Rita Edochie forgave her. On 14 April 2021, aided by human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, she was moved from New Hope Hospital, Onitsha, Anambra State to Zenith Medical & Kidney Centre, Abuja , Nigeria where her health improved and she was able to do certain things she couldn't do before. On 17 April 2021, Odumeje forgave her and donated ₦1 million for her treatment which Ada Jesus's mother openly rejected.

On 20 April 2021, she suffered a Cardiac arrest in the night and was rushed to the intensive care unit of Zenith Medical & Kidney Centre where the doctors monitored her, she died the following morning at approximately 7:15 am.

Personal Life

Ada Jesus was the third child in her family. She married Kingsley Nnadi on 5 April 2019 and gave birth to a daughter on 6 December 2019.

Tension Over Heavy Shooting On Enugu-Abakaliki Highway

Movement of vehicles and passengers along the Enugu Abakaliki expressway has been halted following heavy shooting at the Ezilo axis of the highway by gunmen.

It was not immediately clear those responsible for the shootings.

The Nation had reported two persons were killed in a renewed boundary dispute between Exilic community and neighboring Iyionu community.

Both communities are in Ishielu local government area of the state.

It could not be immediately established if the shooting is connected with the dispute.

A passenger from Afam Cyprian, who was travelling to Enugu, said travellers have been stranded at Okpoto for about one hour.

He said military patrol vans were patrolling the highway but have told them not to advance.

“Many people are looking for another route to take. Some have gone back to take Afikpo road. I am looking for a way to go back to Abakaliki,” he said.

Police spokesperson, Loveth Odah confirmed the shootings.

She said the Police Commissioner, Aliyu Garba has dispatched police patrol teams to restore peace and open up the road for users.

She however said the shooting cannot be related to the boundary dispute as the disputed area is not close to the highway

Governor David Umahi on Tuesday confirmed the killing of two persons in the dispute after a Security Council meeting at the old Government House in Abakaliki.

The Holy Childhood Association was founded in France in 1843 by Bishop Charles de Forbin-Janson. It’s purpose is to encourage all children to be aware of the needs of children living in mission diocese through the world. Bishop de Forbin-Janson always had a keen interest in the missions. In 1843 he called upon the children of France to help save the children of China. He asked them to become Missionary Children, helping to spread the Good News. He asked them to say a Hail Mary every day and give a small coin every month to help feed the Chinese children.

Their motto was “Children helping Children”. The French children took up this great work and from then on the work of missionary children has spread across the world. Today it is in 120 countries and helps make Jesus known to children all over the world. Under its banner “Children helping Children”, funds raised through schools are directed towards self-help programs involving the building of schools, the provision of health and nutrition programs and medications, school fees, and teaching and learning resources.

Soldiers killing:10 Weapons recovered and handed over to military-Ortom

The Benue State Security Council on Monday disclosed that 10 out of the 13 weapons that were taken away from slain Soldiers by bandits at Bonta Community of Konshisha Local Government Area of the state have been recovered.

The recovered weapons which included one machine gun and eight AK-47 have reportedly been handed over to the Military.

Governor Samuel Ortom disclosed this at the end of the expanded state Security Council Meeting held at the Government House in Makurdi on Monday.

He explained that four persons including two traditional rulers, the deputy Chairman of Konshisha and the Councilor of Mbatser/ Mbaguaza have also been arrested and handed over to the police in connection with the killing of the soldiers.

Many Nigerians are praising a Police Officer who exhibited a high level of professionalism while he was been harassed and abused by two traffic offenders. A video captures the moment that the Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sunday Erhator was being harassed and nearly beaten by two civilians who were stopped for going against traffic rules.

This incident happened on Saturday. The Police Officer stopped one Ebhomeyen and his accomplice Etinosa Obaywana in front of Four Point Hotel in Oniru for disregarding traffic rules. After this officer stopped them, these two youths came down angrily from their car, confronted the officer and started assaulting him, without giving him any regards.

They were seen pushing the officer’s chest and spewing vulgar words at the officer. They inflicted severe bodily injuries on the Officer just because he stopped them for going against traffic rule until his colleagues came to his aid.

How The Police Officer Reacted That Touched People’s Hearts

Despite the fact that this Officer was armed with his official Ak-47 riffle, he displayed a high level of professionalism even while the traffic offenders were attacking him. As they were pushing his chest and provoking him to react, he resisted the temptation of using his rifle or laying his hand on the traffic offenders. The two guys violently harassed him until his colleagues attached to the Rapid Response Squad of the State Command came to his rescue.

A Facebook User identified as Ugo Egbujo immediately brought an idea that the Officer should be rewarded for his high level of professionalism in order to encourage him. He started a donation fund for the Officer for maintaining calm even as he was violently assaulted by the traffic offenders.

The donation started on Saturday and the man who started the donation took to his page some hours ago to announce that over N450, 000 has been raised for the officer. The donation is expected to end on Tuesday and the money will be given to the Officer on Wednesday Afternoon.

They are doing this to support ethical policing. They want to encourage the Officer for the way he handled the situation and also encourage other officers to emulate the Officer Erhator. The Officer exhibited self control, maturity, perseverance and professionalism and he was commended for that.

Aside this donation, Punch reports that the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has met with the Officer earlier today at the Governor Office in Alausa to give him a ‘Governorship Handshake’. He was then presented a state plaque as a mark of honor and prestige to appreciate him for promoting core values of modern police and protection of fundamental human rights.

Black Mothering Sunday As Tragic Car Accident Kills Mother, Two Children

Two children and their mother have died in a fatal auto crash that happened in Ogbomoso. An eyewitness said the auto crash involved a Sport Utility Vehicle marked LND 69 AR which skidded off the road and hit the deceased.

Both the mother and her children were said to be in a shop which is by the roadside where she sells plastics.The Mitsubishi SUV reportedly developed a mechanical problem while on motion and lost control.

Before help could come their way, all the three persons had died immediately they were hit by the car. They were said to have died before they could be rushed to a nearby hospital.

The state police command could not be reached for confirmation as calls made to his phone did not connect.

Popular Nigerian music superstar Simi never ceases to amaze her fans with new updates on how she and her daughter, Deja, are fairing.

In her recent Instagram story, the ‘Duduke’ hitmaker had just revealed how her daughter, Adejare ruined her vocals when she was recording new music.

She stated that although her daughter's voice popped into the recording, she will leave it for her fans to hear it.

According to Simi, she just sang the line, “nobody stressing me, ” then Deja started crying. Well, that goes to show her daughter is stressing her.

She wrote: “So I'm writing a song. I start recording. Immediately I sing the line "nobody stressing me", Deja starts crying. Lol. Gonna leave her voice in there so people know I'm lying.”

According to a post from A Facebook page , a Certain Nigerian man have amazed fellow Nigerians after building a Moveable car which was tagged as "Super Car".

The man took to the streets to drive his self-built car to the Amazement of Passersby who couldn't resist than to stop by and have a clearer view of the Vehicle which was driven by its maker who wore an helmet.

The car is indeed a super car as it doesn't look like the Normal cars we find on the road. It's actually a two-seaters Automobile with an Extra Tyre at the back. The car looks to be nearing Completion in terms of spraying and making it look colourful.

Angry Residents Killed 30 Bandits in Katsina

The attacks which bandits are conducting on residents of Katsina have pushed them to wall to the extent that the residents have no any options than to strike back on bandits.

According to Sahara reporters, the residents of Katsina have killed 30 bandits on Monday.

The killings happened in Majifa village in Kankara Local Government of Katsina State where the vigilantes ambushed and killed at least 30 bandits when they heard that they will attacked the village.

FG Lifts Ban On Registration Of New SIMs

The Federal Government has lifted the ban on new Subscribers Identification Module (SIMs) card registration, The Nation has learnt.

The effective date for implementation, the government said, is Monday, April 19, 2021.

It however placed NIN registration as mandatory for registering new SIM cards.

The latest development was contained in revised National Digital Identity Policy for SIM Card Registration approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.

A statement by Technical Assistant (Information Technology) to Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Femi Adeluyi, reads in part: “The implementation of the Policy will commence on Monday, 19th of April 2021.

“The issuance of New SIMs and other suspended activities will resume on the same date, as long as verification is done and the guidelines are fully adhered to.

“The Minister has also directed NCC and NIMC to ensure that the provisions of the Policy are strictly followed by all operators and subscribers.

“The Policy includes Guidelines on New SIM Acquisition and Activation, SIM Replacement, New SIM Activation for Corporates and Internet-of-Things/Machine-to-Machine (IoT/M2M), amongst others.

“The possession of a National Identity number will be a prerequisite for each of these categories. For the Corporate registration, institutions will be required to appoint a Telecoms Master (at the minimum of an Executive Management level) to provide the operational Primary NIN representation.

“The Telecoms Master will also be responsible for ensuring that the users provide their NINs to serve as a Secondary NIN.

“For IoT/M2M activations, SIM security protocols would be implemented on the SIM profile to ensure that SIMs can only be used for point to point data services specific to the URL they are working with. All other services will be barred.”
