The root, as usual, was the tribal rivalry that has been tearing the nation apart all year. Blood Curses. The massacre began at the airport near the 5th Battalion's home city of Kano. There were Igbos among the customs officials, and they dropped their chalk and fled, only to be shot down in the main terminal by other soldiers. Screaming the blood curses of a Moslem holy war, the Hausa troops turned the airport into a shambles, bayoneting Igbo workers in the bar, gunning them down in the corridors, and hauling Igbo passengers off the plane to be lined up and shot.

From the airport, the troops fanned out through downtown Kano, hunting down Igbos in bars, hotels and on the streets. One contingent drove their Land Rovers to the railroad station, where more than 100 Igbos were waiting for a train, and cut them down with automatic-weapons fire.

The soldiers did not have to do all the killing. They were soon joined by thousands of Hausa civilians, who rampaged through the city armed with stones, cutlasses, machetes, and homemade weapons of metal and broken glass. Crying "Heathen!" and "Allah!", the mobs and troops invaded the sabon gari (strangers' quarter), ransacking, looting and burning Igbo homes and stores and murdering their owners.

Garbage Trucks. All night long and into the morning the massacre went on. Then, tired but fulfilled, the Hausas drifted back to their homes and bar racks to get some breakfast and sleep. Municipal garbage trucks were sent out to collect the dead and dump them into mass graves outside the city. The death toll will never be known, but it was at least 1,000 to 30,000.

Somehow, several thousand Igbos survived the orgy, and all had the same thought: to get out of the North. Many were packed onto a Southbound train. The management of large companies operating in Kano chartered every available plane. All told, 1,400 Igbos were flown out of Kano alone

One officer of the 5th dismissed the whole thing as a prank, but there was no assurance that it would not happen again. When a government representative promised a tense meeting of the Kano Chamber of Commerce that all was under control, he was hooted down. "Assurances are no longer any good," retorted one local business leader.

British Government Returns Iboli's $5.97M To Nigeria

The British government has sent Nigeria 4.2 million pounds ($5.97 million) recovered from a former state governor who was jailed for laundering money in Britain, the West African country said on Tuesday.

Prosecutors say he stole an estimated £117m from the oil-rich state.This is the first time that money recovered from criminals will be returned to Nigeria since an agreement was signed in 2016, the UK authorities say.

James Ibori, who was governor of the southern oil-producing Delta State from 1999 to 2007, pleaded guilty at London's Southwark Crown Court in 2012 to 10 counts of fraud and money-laundering. He received a 13-year sentence.

The 4.2 million pounds was stolen by Ibori and his associates but retrieved through operations led by British law enforcement agencies, who identified assets bought in Britain with illicit funds, the Foreign Office in London has said.

A spokesman for Nigeria's attorney general confirmed the money had been received.

The two countries established a memorandum of understanding providing a framework for the return of stolen assets to Nigeria in 2016.

Ibori returned to Nigeria in 2017. His arrival was met with celebration in his native south, where he remains popular.

Southern Governors vs Miyatti Allah On Open Grazing and Ranching Issue

An umbrella body of nomadic herdsmen in Nigeria, the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, has described the ban on open grazing in Southern Nigeria by the respective state governors as a declaration of war on herders.

The group also described the ban as an empty policy.

Seventeen Southern Governors had met in Asaba, Delta State last Tuesday, where they resolved to ban open grazing of cattle in the region, among other resolutions, blaming it for causing insecurity. 

Spokesman for the group, Saleh Alhassan, however, told Punch on Monday, “We condemn it, it is totally unacceptable to us. You can’t ban our business without providing ranches. Let them create ranches for us, we don’t have the land, we are ready to ranch, we are ready to pay, let them create the enabling environment for us.

Ranching is the activity of running a large farm, especially one used for raising cattle, horses, or sheep.

"The ban is an empty policy because it has no basis. You can’t ban our business, we are not criminals, let them go after the bandits and the criminals.

“We can’t comply with an empty policy. If they create ranches and ask us to go there, we will go there but they can’t wake up one day and say they are banning our business.

“If the governors are stopping us from grazing, they are preparing for confrontation. Their action is a declaration of war on the herders."

When asked whether Miyetti Allah would dialogue with the Southern governors on the issue, Alhassan said, “Their colleagues in the North will engage them since it is politics.”

Alhassan further said the group would take legal actions against the Southern governors if they stopped the business of the nomadic herders.

“If you stop our legitimate business, we will challenge you in the court of law. We also have cultural ways of addressing injustice,” he said.

Kalu said that the House of Representatives has concluded an arrangement to organize a two-day stakeholders roundtable on the benefits of the weed.

According to him a date for the stakeholder’s forum, which will attract participants among scientists, medical and pharmaceutical professionals, farmers, insurance companies, executives, and private sector investors has been slated for June 7 and 8.

He explained that countries such as South Africa and others are currently reaping high revenue from cannabis which they export to other countries.

To pull through the life-threatening ailment, the 42-year-old native of Anambra State needs about N11m for kidney transplant and medication but has only been able to raise N5m.

A medical report dated January 28, 2021 and signed by a consultant nephrologist, Dr Ameh A., indicated that Onwurah “is being managed for chronic kidney disease and would be needing kidney transplant.”

Onwurah told City Round that he started falling ill constantly in 2017 and was treating malaria and typhoid.

He said when his health deteriorated in November 2017 and he could no longer work, he was taken to Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital for a comprehensive checkup which revealed that he is suffering from chronic kidney disease.

He said, “I had been managing it since that time and was on a monthly checkup. In December 2020, the ailment got out of hand; it brought me down completely. The doctors said it was time for kidney transplant but I needed to commence dialysis immediately.

“In February, I started using Zenith Medical and Kidney Centre where I plan to do the transplant. I am a chartered accountant. I worked with a bank for 11 years but resigned to pursue further education so I could switch my career to lecturing. Then this kidney failure issue came up and put a hold on my dream.

Onwurah said he started soliciting funds to carry out the surgery and was able to raise N5m which had been deposited at the hospital.

He added, “The estimated bill for the surgery is N9,090,000 and N2,073,600 for post-transplant treatment medication. I am appealing to Nigerians for help. I have four children and a wife who I am supposed to cater for. I don’t want them to suffer.”

As the 3 little seers was unable to read and write but only upholds the moral values taught to them by their Parents, early Leaders of Block Rosary Crusade were Primary and Secondary school dropout but the impairment did not affect their knowledge to be progressive.

The promise of Our Blessed Virgin Mary to those who recite the Rosary Prayer everyday was made explicit to them.

Some of them made their way to Seminary school while some became great scholars and traders.

The Catholic Church in Onitsha, within 10 years grown beyond expectations.

This incident happened in India and has been trending worldwide. Women are always perceived as the caregiver and the nurturers. It is a known fact that most women would do almost anything for their children even to a point of sacrificing their lives just to keep their babies safe. Well, this woman in question did absolutely the opposite of what the society deem woman to be.

She stabbed her baby girl on the face 90 times because she bite her while breastfeeding. There are many speculations as to why this may have happened but the mother of the child has not yet responded. It is very hard to pinpoint if she was trying to kill her baby girl or just hurting it. One of the speculations is Postpartum depression. Postpartum depression is such a serious issue that happen to women having giving birth when they don't feel any connection towards their children.

The symbolic meaning in Russia culture is referred to as Bonra-matywka which is volga-matushka meaning mother-volga in Russian literature and folklore.

According to different sources,the region was mainly inhabited by Slavic, Turkic and Viking people. Povolzhye played an important part of Rus'khaganate. The Volga river was mainly used by the traders from the oriented and Viking world.

The region is home to a large portion of Russia's population, with the major cities of yaroslavl, kostroma, Novogrod, Cheboksary, kazan,ulyanovsk,toyaltti, samara,saratov,volgograd and astrakhan all located directly on the Volga River.
